Word Deduction
Zol's Echo Same word hunt. Half the clues.
Zol's Echo is a word-guessing game you play in your browser — guess the hidden word, but the feedback only tells you how many letters you got right, never which ones.
The rules
- There's a hidden word of a fixed length. Type any real word and submit.
- Instead of colouring each tile, Echo gives you counts: how many of your letters are in the right spot, and how many are in the word but somewhere else.
- That's it — you're never told which letters those are. You have to reason it out by changing one thing at a time and watching the numbers move.
- Line up the word before your guesses run out.
It's the same idea as a colour-clue word game, with the training wheels removed — the hardest word hunt in the collection.
Choose your difficulty
- Easy — unlimited guesses, and a hint can hand you a correct letter in place when you're stuck.
- Medium — a generous guess budget.
- Hard — a tight budget; run out and it's a loss.
- Zolified — the counts collapse into a single "how many are right" number, hiding even more, and a 30-second clock reveals one true letter — at a rising cost — if you stall.
Change one letter, watch the number move, and you've learned something. That's the whole game.
Three ways to play
The Daily is one shared word for everyone. Free Play is unlimited rounds at any difficulty. And Versus is a duel: you each pick a word for the other to hunt down, then set to work — the sharper deduction wins.
Play it
Play Zol's Echo in your browser — nothing to download. Creating an account is free, and new players get a 30-day preview with full access to every game in the catalogue. After the preview, a rotating set of games is free to play each day.
